Welcome to the Electronic Home of Health-System Pharmacy Practice in South Carolina

The South Carolina Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SCSHP), founded in 1958, represents nearly 500 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who provide patient care services to hospitals, health-systems, ambulatory care centers, infusion companies, long term facilities and other organized healthcare practices. In addition, SCSHP includes college of pharmacy faculty and students.

The SCSHP website provides you with 24/7/365 access to timely and comprehensive information on issues important to your practice. The website will grow along with SCSHP, to provide additional services including online continuing education, additional references and resources and special interest forums.

SCSHP is your voice at the South Carolina Legislature and the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. SCSHP members have been appointed to each SC BOP committee to advocate the health-system pharmacy perspective on important issues such as pharmacy technician education and training, remote order processing, pharmacy automation and technology and much more.

SCSHP provides high quality, relevant continuing education programs featuring national, regional and local experts on health-system pharmacy practice. Statewide, SCSHP conducts an Annual Meeting (March) and Fall Symposium (October). Explore the SCSHP website for additional CE programs that are provided on a regional basis.

In a few short months the newly formed SCSHP Research and Education Foundation will begin to secure unrestricted grants and other donations to provide additional educational opportunities, traineeships, special programming and scholarships.

Association management services have been contracted with our colleagues at the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP). The “partnership” with FSHP continues to benefit SCSHP in a number of ways including expanded member services, timely and informative communications in the form of a “new and improved” communications and a new monthly electronic newsletter, the SCSHP Career Center, expanded educational services and meeting planning.

SCSHP has been successful because of the dedication and commitment of health-system pharmacy professional like you. However to continue to grow and to reach our full potential we need to recruit and retain additional members, particularly pharmacists! Pharmacy is not a “spectator” profession.
